Who we are

A small roastery that only makes what it can watch closely.

Driftwood Coffee Roasters is a small-batch specialty roaster and espresso bar in Fremantle, Western Australia. We roast single-origin beans on-site twice a week, serve espresso, filter and cold brew across the counter, and sell four house roasts in 250g and 1kg bags. Everything happens within earshot of the harbour — the roaster, the grinder, the till.

We keep the batches small on purpose. It means we can read every roast curve, taste as we go, and get coffee onto the shelf close to the day it was roasted. No warehouse, no guesswork — just beans we've followed from green to cup.

How we roast

From green bean to your cup, without the rush.

Small batches let us stay close to every stage. Here's the path each roast takes before it reaches the counter.

01

Source

We buy green beans in quantities we can actually get through, so nothing sits stale in the back.

02

Roast

Twice a week, on-site, one small drum at a time — logging each roast curve as we chase the sweet spot.

03

Rest

Beans rest a few days to settle before they hit the shelf or the espresso hopper.

04

Pour

Ground to order at the bar or bagged for home — always close to its roast date.

Why Driftwood

Quietly obsessive about the small things.

Roasted on-site, twice weekly

You're never far from a fresh batch. We roast in the same room we pour in, so freshness isn't a marketing line — it's the layout.

Single-origin, tracked closely

We log every roast curve and taste as we go. Each bag carries notes because we've actually cupped it, not guessed.

A stone's throw from the sea

Set near the Fishing Boat Harbour, the bar is built for slow mornings — a coffee, the salt air, and the roaster running out the back.
